Ways to Make A Difference

I am going to sprinkle in a few blog posts about charitable organizations that I really have a heart for. One area God has been working in my life is by putting the needs of orphans and widows on my heart. His word tells us that, "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress ..." James 1:27.

I am deeply moved every time I hear or see a story about orphans, particularly in Ethiopia and other African countries where the AIDS epidemic is running rampant leaving millions of children without one or both parents. A few months back I posted a link to one of the most moving and inspiring videos I have seen of a family going to pick up their baby girl from Ethiopia. I was in tears throughout the 10 minutes of the video. It is amazing what just one person can do to make a difference in the life of another.

One amazing charity I have come across is Wiphan Care Ministries. This group provides health care, shelter, education, food and job training to orphans and widows in Zambia. There are many ways to help support this amazing ministry on their website. You can donate directly or buy cookbooks or these really cute t-shirts.
